1. Welcome

A message from our Academy Director, Jacques:

A very warm welcome (back!) to the 2026 season at Cobham Avorians Academy. I hope everyone has had a great Winter and the players are starting to feel that familiar itch to pick up a bat or ball again - or at the very least to run around outside after being trapped indoors for a few months!

We are genuinely excited about this coming Summer. Last year saw a brilliant step forward in the Academy, and this season we're building on that with more teams, more opportunities and an even stronger focus on what really matters - helping young people grow in confidence through sport.

What makes this club special?
At Avorians we care about much more than cricket scores.

Of course we want players to improve their skills - but just as importantly we want them to learn:

  • how to support their teammates
  • how to deal with setbacks
  • how to lead in their own way
  • how to compete with respect
  • how to show resilience when things don't go quite right

...because the truth is, long after they've forgotten their batting or bowling average, the confidence and life skills they learn here will still be with them.

We'll continue to recognise and value players who show:

  • great attitude
  • team-first behaviours
  • encouragement of others
  • emotional control under pressure
  • respect for opponents, coaches and match officials

In short, we believe that how you behave matters just as much as how you play.

Whether you are a junior player returning for another season at this beautiful ground, or a new joiner looking to sample cricket for the first time, welcome to the A's!
