Lords Indoor Walking Cricket Festival

Cavaliers Bring Home the Bacon (and Egg).

For the second time in as many years, Cobham Avorians walking cricket team, the Cavaliers, headed to the home of cricket (Lords), to play in the MCC Festival of Walking Cricket. Determined to improve on last years preformance, they joined Essex CCC, Worcester CCC, Wallington and two sides from the MCC in the round robin event, held in the Indoor Cricket Centre.
Each team consisting of eight players, batting in 4 pairs for 2 five ball sets (overs) per pair, making a total of eight sets per team. Every team member was required to bowl 1 set. Wickets lost, saw a deduction of 5 runs from the total, with the winner of each match, being decided by the highest score.
The Cavaliers started well with a 6 run victory over Worcester CCC. Close fought victories followed against the 2 MCC sides and Essex, meaning that the Cavaliers went into the final match against fellow Surrey side Wallington, who had only lost 1 match, with the winner destined to take the festival spoils. In yet another close fought match, which went down to the last pair, the Cavaliers emerged victorious by 13 runs.
All games were played in a very sporting and friendly atmosphere and the Cavaliers would like to thank the MCC for their hospitality, in what was a thoroughly enjoyable day.

Results: Match 1 vs Worcester - won by 6 runs
Match 2 vs MCC (Egg) - won by 31 runs
Match 3 vs Essex - won by 3 runs
Match 4 vs MCC (Bacon) - won by 3 runs
Match 5 vs Wallington - won by 13 runs
