19th October 2006 - Avorians Golf Day

This years Cobham Avorians CC Golf Four Ball Competition took place at the Silvermere Golf Club on Thursday 19th October. This was a great opportunity to enjoy 18 holes of golf, a three course silver service meal , prize giving and auction in the private Lake Suite. The cost was only £50 per player which represented incredibly good value and was the perfect opportunity to invite friends or business colleagues/clients.

Fireworks Night
Saturday November 4th

Another huge success with the majority of club members turning out for the cool and crisp evening of bonfire, fireworks, food and hospitality. Well done again to everyone who helped turn the 2nd Annual Fireworks Party into a regulay Club event.

Presidents Day
13th August 2006

The rain couldn't dampen the 2006 Presidents Day and although no cricket was played, the tremendous lunch, music, port and Wibbly Wobbly competitions confirmed the day as one of the annual highlights!

Another must for your social calendar. If you didn't experience the lobsters last year, there's still time for this year.

Avorians Summer Ball - 17th June 2006

Emma Bell surpassed her monumental efforts of 2005 and presented an even more lavish and exciting evening this year. A great turn out of more than 150 'penguins' and 'beautiful ladies' (very high scoring this year!) enjoyed champagne in the sunshine before being invited into the marquee for continued merriment. A great deal of money was raised during the night thanks to auction items such as a fully hosted private box at Royal Ascot for 4 people kindly donated by Jerry, a bat signed by Ricky Ponting, a shirt worn by by own 'Higgsy' on his debut for Australia, a customised Gray Nicholls bat and factory tour from 'Prich', a family portrait session at Mark Lewis Photography in Windsor and various fourballs at prestigious golf clubs including Wentworth. Finally everyone took part in a a surreal Wordl Cup game (you had to be there, come on Argentina! ED). The evening got into full swing with music from the live band complemented by various displays of dance by the team and guests. Well done Emma - What a fabulous night. Here's to topping it in 2007!

Grand National at the Avorians - 8th April 2006

Stag Dinner - 24th March 2006

Friday March 24th we are holding the Avorians Cricket Club Stag Dinner at Laleham Golf Club, the cost is £35 a ticket. Tables are available in 8’s and we are looking to get 100 people there.  Last year was great fun and former Surrey & England bowler, Robin Jackman, was a very entertaining guest speaker.

Colts Academy Tour of Lords - 12th March 2006

We are very fortunate that one of our coaches, Brian Burgess, has offered to show a party of up to 40 Academy members and parents around Lord’s. This will take place on Sunday 12th March at 3pm with a 2.45pm meet at the Grace Gates – please let me know if you are unsure where this is. The tour usually takes about 1hr 45mins and includes visits to the Longroom, one of the dressing rooms, the museum (to see the ashes), the real tennis court, the grandstand (for overall discussion of the development of the ground), and hopefully, the media centre. If you would like to attend please send me a cheque for £5 per colt and £6 per adult made payable to Avorians Cricket Club.

  • Fireworks Night - Saturday 5th November 2005 A hugely successful evening as I'm sure you'll all agree. Thankyou to everyone who turned up and made the effort to support the club.
  • Friday Evenings at the Clubhouse:- Colts Academy Sessions & Senior Nets - For all those who finish work on a Friday afternoon with the desire for a small libation, the bar is now open every Friday evening from 6.30pm to coincide with the nets and academy sessions. This has proved immensely popular and members and non-members are equally welcome. See you there!
  • Ascot Day (at York at Avorians, Cobham)
A quick thank you to Darryl, Sue, Peter, Barry, Gary, John, Carol and everyone who helped to organise the Ascot Day at the Club just over a week ago. Fabulous food (check out the lobsters above!) and weather helped to make it a great success in raising just over £1000 for the club. More photos of the day can be viewed in the picture library.
  • Summer Ball 2005 - Saturday 2nd July:- Batting in the face of Live 8 and the final of NatWest Triangular Series, this years Summer Ball was another wonderful event that resulted in a high percentage of sore heads the next morning.
  • Presidents Day 2005 - Sunday 3rd July - With hangovers a plenty, everyone turned out for the Presidents Lunch which this year also featured a family day complete with bouncy castle. I would love to let you know the final cricket score but the port had taken it's full effect by then!

Print of the Clubhouse and Ground - In 2003, the clubs 75th year, we commissioned an artist to complete a water colour of the ground. The season resulted in the 1st X1 securing the Surrey Championship 1st Division tables. To commemorate our year we have a limited edition painting, the 50 framed prints are all signed by the artist and can be purchased through the club. They capture the atmosphere of the beautiful tranquil ground setting.

Framed Prints are available from the Clubhouse for £50.00 each.

Club Tie - Thanks go out to Tony Young and Frank Saunders for their kind gesture in designing, sourcing and funding our new club ties.

They are available for £15.00 each from John Lane at the Club House.
